Department Of Paeditrics

The aim of this department is to teach the students the techniques in assessment, diagnosis and management of children with congenital and developmental diseases and disorders. Specific physiotherapy techniques are provided to such children in order to improve the neuromuscular components in order to increase mobility, strength and functions. Deterioration of quality of life can be prevented and functional independence, to lessen the burden on the parents can be aimed at. Pediatric physiotherapy ensures that children with delayed developmental milestones: crawling, turning, sitting, standing, walking, running and other motor skills required for daily activities, attain at the earliest with therapeutic stimulation and training. Students learn how to asses such children, and design treatment plans which include exercises, activities, stretches and other interventions to improve the physical abilities. Parent and caregiver education, use of appropriate assistive devices and collaboration with other healthcare professionals are essential for interventions to be comprehensive.
